School Budgets Fail In Some Larger Towns

School budgets in some of Vermont’s larger towns went down to defeat in Town Meeting Day votes.

Voters in Milton, Williston, Rutland Town and Bennington were among those that turned down spending plans.

But at the same time, spending plans in larger communities passed, including Winooski, Rutland City and Burlington.

School budgets around the state went up, on average, this year, according to officials. A full count of how budgets fared is not expected until Wednesday afternoon.
