Hurricane Sandy is slowly moving across New England, and storm experiences in Vermont seem to be localized.
In Brattleboro, Green Mountain Power is reporting more than 460 customers are without power.
Downed trees and power lines have closed roads, including Route 9 near the Molly Stark Motel.
Public safety officials are reminding the public to stay away from downed power lines.
Sustained winds are expected to reach 30-40 m.p.h. with gusts up to 60 m.p.h. Town officials have opened an emergency operations center and will continue to monitor the storm as it approaches.
