Wallingford and West Rutland Schools Push For Biomass

The Wallingford Elementary School and another school in West Rutland have applied to have their heating systems switched over to a biomass pellet furnace. In both schools, the system would also provide heat for the nearby Town Hall, the furnace potentially being installed in either location.  Ken Welch, one of the Wallingford Energy Coordinators, who is involved with both projects, said that about 25% of the schools in the state are now involved in an energy project of this kind and that there is no consultation cost. The applications are still pending.
